Ah, so much to say about today's
strip. For starters, it is about tabletop gaming: dungeons and dragons and the
like. Really we just want to show non-gamers and gamers alike some of the myths
surrounding tabletop, good and bad. It is going to be a running series that
will pop up every now and then on our strip. The first one is the myth that
tabletop gaming somehow offers you broader ways to deal with the problems that
are presented to you. Those of you who have actually played, however, know that
the end result is usually the same because of one party member or another (I
myself am one) who likes to solve all of their problems with combat. I could
be wrong, but I have never seen a group that has been able to prove this myth
true. It is always like a magickal dream that someday you will come across the
best gaming group ever, who never splits up, and always works together to solve
problems in creative, intelligent new ways. I'm not sure if the problem lies
with the gamers, or with the game, but mostly hack n' slash reigns supreme.
So grab yourself a +4 vorpal sword of wounding and grab yourself some of the
glory, before everyone else steals it all. Oh, and if you recognize the g.m.,
you get bonus points in my book.
Yours falsely,
Nate W.
