Like a humorless rickshaw pilot, safely forcing you to arrive at your destination (your destination being the realization that we are comic geniuses slinging jokes to the folks). So go ahead and reread the previous one and then realize that Greg is not proficient at brain surgery and that Nate is too stupid to realize that this would be the outcome of his attempt at inception. "But Mr. Nate, I don't like that you're ending this story on such a downer" you might say to yourself. But you are stupid, and that is why you say stupid things.
